What 'Mobile Responsive' Actually Means
More than half of web traffic comes from phones now. If your website doesn't work properly on mobile, you're losing over half your potential customers.
What it actually means
A responsive site automatically adjusts to fit whatever screen someone's viewing it on. Phone, tablet, laptop - it should look good and work well on all of them.
Tap targets need to be big enough to hit with a thumb. Text needs to be readable without zooming. Navigation needs to work with tapping instead of hovering.
What happens if you don't
If your site isn't responsive, people will pinch and zoom to read anything. Buttons will be too small to tap. Forms will be a nightmare to fill out.
And they'll just leave and go to a competitor whose site works properly.
How to check
Open your website on your phone right now. Can you read it easily? Can you tap the buttons without hitting the wrong thing? Can you contact them without zooming?
If not, your site needs fixing.
Common excuses we hear
"But all my customers are on desktop" - no they aren't. Everyone checks businesses on their phone now, even if they ultimately convert on a laptop.
"It was expensive to make" - that's not an excuse for it not working. A proper website should work everywhere.
The fix
Modern websites are built mobile-first these days. If yours is more than a few years old and isn't responsive, it's probably time for an update.
